LGBT+ Families Scheme
For the 2016 batch of Freshers, Pembroke, Queens', Corpus, and Peterhouse will be running its own LGBT+ parenting scheme due to frustrations with CUSU's parenting scheme, which - due to its size - only matches parents and children by late Michaelmas and families often don't work out. Coming to Cambridge can be a scary experience, and the more immediate friends and support you have the better. The idea of the parenting scheme is not particularly different from the college reasoning. The intention is to help set you up in Cambridge's LGBT+ community, and introduce you to friendly faces who you can turn to if you experience problems. The plan is as following: we will be having 'family meals' on Monday 3rd October, followed by drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at Queens'. There will be other family events at the end of Michaelmas, and throughout the year. For those interested in the scheme, more information will be sent out after offers have been confirmed in August.
